Skin redness is a common skin concern that can appear as flushing, pinkness or irritation across the face. It is often caused by sensitive skin, a weakened skin barrier, over-exfoliation, harsh skincare products, sun exposure or dehydration. In many cases, redness is the skin’s way of signalling that it is irritated or out of balance.
Skin redness is not always the same as rosacea. Rosacea is a long-term skin condition that causes ongoing redness, frequent flushing and sometimes visible small blood vessels on the skin. General redness is usually temporary and improves when the skin barrier is repaired and irritating triggers are removed.
Skin redness can be caused by different internal and external factors that irritate the skin or weaken its natural protective barrier. Identifying these triggers can help reduce flare-ups and support healthier, calmer skin over time.
